Essential funds raised for Grow More Food at the Hull 10k

On Sunday 14th June 2015 thousands of people donned their running shoes and took to the streets of Hull to run in the Jane Tomlinson’s Hull 10K.

On the day, grey clouds were out and it was drizzling most of the morning, but the runners were all determined to get to the finish line. Among them were Mat and Michelle who were both running for Grow More Food wearing their bright green t-shirts. Mat and Michelle, who work as a solicitor and a teacher respectively, have been raising funds through family, friends, and in the workplace to help our charity.

We are still receiving final donations, and will be able to tell you how much was raised soon. The funds raised will mean that Grow More Food can purchase large drip irrigation kits for a community to grow approximately 500 different crop varieties on a plot of about 125 square meters. We are identifying a community in a dry land and rural area of Kenya in which the community will be able to use harvested water to grow nutritious crops to eat, with some surplus to sell.

Fundraising is particularly important for us at Grow More Food as we are fully funded by private donations and do not currently receive funding from government bodies. We don’t spend funds raised on admin or overhead costs as these have already been covered by Liquid Lever Irrigation Ltd.

We will leave the fundraising page open as we still expect to receive more donations. Please click here if you wish to see their Givey fundraising page.
